About the Faculty Scholarship Database & SU Works

Created in October, 2003, the first database included scholarly citations from 2001 – 2003 that faculty forwarded to librarian liaisons. Redesigned in Spring 2009, the database was migrated from Access to SQL, linked to the SU Directory and enhanced with new search options, including author, title, type of scholarship, department, school, date range, etc.

This project was made possible through collaboration of librarians with Melissa Thomas, Office of Instructional Design & Delivery, and Todd Smith, Web Development.  We are very grateful for all their help in making the database come alive!

Faculty Scholarship Database Scope:

  • Faculty scholarship (publications and works created before and during SU employment)
  • Faculty scholarship produced by Emeritus professors post retirement
  • Dissertations & Theses
  • Works by non-faculty SU employees (Note: the database is not comprehensive for non-faculty scholarship.)

Scholarship:

The database will be inclusive of many forms and types of scholarship, such as:

Articles, Awards, Books, Book Chapters, Edited Books, Creative Works, Dissertations, Instructional Resources, Poster Sessions, Presentations, Theses and other scholarship upon review.

Collection Policy:

In addition to the information that the faculty provide, citations are collected from SU news publications such as the Fulton, Henson, Perdue & Seidel newsletters and from searches of bibliographic databases.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit their citations to us. Copies of articles for the archives are also requested.

The present database has over 1000 records that can be viewed at http://www.salisbury.edu/library/facscholar.

If you have any questions about the database, please contact:
