About the Play:
Once Upon a Mattress was first a long one-act
musical comedy that was played for two week-end
nights only, in the summer of 1951, for the
entertainment of the guests of Tamiment, a
summer camp (of the sort that was celebrated in
"Wish You Were Here") in the Pocono Mountains of
Pennsylvania. It was then called The Princess
and the Pea.
