The collections in the Salisbury University Archives document the school’s history from its founding as the Maryland State Normal School in 1925 to the present. The materials tell the unique story of our school through yearbooks and publications, photographs and film, departmental records, faculty papers, student theses, and university artifacts. Photographs, negatives, slides, and film can be found in several collections, including Photograph files (arranged by subject), Office of Publications Photographs (see finding aid below), Public Relations Department records, and Sports Information Services records. Photographs from the collections can be digitized upon request.

Faculty Papers

The personal papers of several distinguished faculty associated with Salisbury University are available in the University Archives. Among the papers are the collected film press kits and reviews of English professor and Literature/Film Quarterly founder James Welsh; production notes and recorded audio of Theater director Leland Starnes; teaching materials of the school’s first African-American professor A.K. Talbot; Eastern Shore folk life research and teaching materials of LGBT activist and Lamda Society founder Polly Stewart; and personal and political papers of women’s rights advocate and History professor Winifred Helmes.

Theses and Dissertations
