Students interested in majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies – Individual Track are strongly encouraged to read all general policies and information regarding creating their own major.

Creating YOUR own major takes
work on the part of YOU!

Students interested in majoring in IDIS should email the IDIS Coordinator  for an appointment:

  • Appointment - Request to meet and inquire about upcoming walk-in availability.  If you have schedule limitations, please provide possible dates/times to meet. The coordinator will then respond to you with a possible meeting time.

At your appointment, please bring the following information with you:

  • Goal Statement - A written goal statement should address the academic areas you would like to combine and how those academic areas will assist you in meeting your academic and/or career goals.  Please review the Sample Proposals for examples of past goal statements.
  • Course Lists - A list of possible 300/400 level courses that you might be interested in taking for your major.  Please note ANY prerequisites involved at the 100/200 level that you might need to complete before the 300/400 level courses.  This information can be found in the University Academic Catalog.

Failure to be prepared for your appointment
will result in the need to reschedule!

During the proposal meeting, student and coordinator with discuss any questions regarding the program and finalize an official proposal. Proposals will then need to be taken to the academic representatives for signature approval before students can be officially declared an IDIS major.
