Thank you for your interest in SU’s English Language Learning Program (ELLP). The ELLP is a part-time, community-based program offering English language instruction to speakers of other languages living on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and the surrounding areas. Classes are offered for students at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, and are designed to teach literacy skills through reading, writing, speaking and listening with a focus on language acquisition within real-life contexts such as work, home and civic life.
The ELLP was created by Salisbury University’s English Language Institute (ELI), which provides high quality English acquisition courses to international students, professionals and other non-native speakers by means of an intensive academic English program. As the ELI addresses the needs of students pursuing professional goals in higher education, it designed the English Language Learning Program (ELLP) with a separate mission, in response to the language needs of local, non-English speaking community members.
The ELLP empowers and supports the local immigrant and migrant communities by providing affordable English classes, conveniently offered in the evenings and on the weekends in Salisbury, Maryland. The program seeks to support students in the successful navigation of American culture on Delmarva and create a welcoming, low-stress environment where fun, high-quality instruction and learning thrive.
As a dynamic platform for service, the ELLP incorporates the participation of current Salisbury University students and collaborates in partnership with organizations throughout the community.
