Salisbury University students have the opportunity to study a full semester at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, through SU's long-time study abroad partner, the American Institute of Foreign Study. Macquarie University is located about 10 miles from the famous downtown sector featuring the active Sydney business district and the iconic Sydney opera house. Sydney’s energetic city life centers on its magnificent harbor. Sydney-siders are known for their relaxed and welcoming attitude and remarkably multicultural population. Cosmopolitan and easy to get around, Sydney is a spacious, sunny city surrounded by spectacular national parks, unspoiled bushland and 100 miles of coastline. Students begin their academic program with an 11-day course in Pacific Studies at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji for 1 credit. Students receive a Certificate of Completion. This course is taught both in the classroom and the field with a wide variety of included field trips. Students continue their studies at Macquarie University in Sydney, earning up to 14 additional credits choosing from courses in a variety of disciplines which may include: Aboriginal Studies, Anthropology, Australian Studies, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Chinese, Communications, Economics, Education, English Literature, Finance, Geography, Geology, Law, Linguistics, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.
