Undergraduate Student Scholarships

International student scholarships range from USD 3,000 to USD 12,000 and are awarded to new incoming international students only (starting spring 2018 as funds are available).  All scholarships are renewable each year (up to 4 years total), subject to satisfactory academic progress.

Note: students can only receive one scholarship per academic year.  Students that qualify for multiple scholarships will receive the highest yielding scholarship.  To be eligible, student must enroll as a full time degree seeking student.

Freshman Scholarships

Admitted first-year students are automatically considered for the below academic merit scholarships:

International Baccalaureate Scholarship

The International Baccalaureate (IB) scholarship is awarded to freshman applicants who completed the IB Program (Diploma or Certificates) and who have a 5 out of 7 grade point average on their higher level (HL) courses.

A-Level Scholarship

The A-level scholarship is awarded to freshman applicants who have completed at least 3 A-Level Examinations and who have a B grade point average.

State of Maryland - Sister States Scholarship

Salisbury is pleased to offer all eligible resident students from Maryland’s sister states (listed below) a USD 5,000 per academic year scholarship award.

Maryland Sister States Scholarship Requirements:
To be eligible, student must provide proof of resident status (including citizenship) from a Maryland Sister State.

International Ambassador

The International Ambassador Scholarship is one of Salisbury University’s most prestigious awards for international students.  A limited number of scholarships are awarded to selected international undergraduate students (new freshmen and transfers) who wish to serve as International Student Ambassadors. 

Each scholarship is awarded by the Office of International Recruitment and Admissions Scholarship Committee.  The scholarship is valued at US $9,040 per academic year.  Students must complete 20 hours of service per semester and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for the scholarship to be renewed.

Counselor Award

Any foreign high school counselor, community college transfer coordinator or EducationUSA Advisor may nominate one qualified international student for Salisbury’s Counselor Award per year.  This highly selective award is valued at USD 12,000 (renewable up to 4 years total) and is intended to celebrate achievements of students and the work they have completed during their high school or college career.

Award Criteria:

  • Outstanding leadership in their school or college and/or in their local communities
  • Good academic achievement 

Nomination Process

To nominate a student please send a letter of recommendation to the Director of International Recruitment and Admissions.  The nomination deadline is February 1, 2018.  Student must have been accepted into an SU undergraduate degree program for consideration.

Graduate Students

Graduate assistantships enhance student educational objectives by providing practicum-based experiences, including the development and application of teaching, conducting research and other skills, while advancing the mission of the University.

Graduate assistantships also provide financial support in the form of stipends and tuition assistance to aid full-time degree-seeking students enrolled in post-baccalaureate degree programs. For a complete list of available Graduate Assistantships, please click on the following link.
