Students are trying to submit a Turnitin assignment in MyClasses and they are getting the following message: 

Sorry, we could not process your request 
This assignment does not have a valid assignment title, start date, and / or due date. Please contact your instructor for more information.

What is wrong?

Instructors using Turnitin assignments, must view to activate the assignment in order for students to be able to access and submit the assignment.

After creating a Turnitin assignment, to view and activate the assignment:

  1. Click the "Load the ... in a new window" - (where ... is the assignment name)
  2. Click the Settings tab. If needed, change/update the assignment settings.
  3. Click Submit

How can I use a MyClasses Rubric to Grade a Turnitin Assignment in Speed Grader?

Create the assignment as a Canvas assignment with Online/File Upload  submission type without linking it to Turnitin. Save the assignment. Add your rubric to the assignment, and edit the assignment changing the submission type to External Tool, Turnitin.

Can I create a Turnitin Group Assignment?

No. It is not possible to use the Turnitin LTI (or any other external tool submission) with a Canvas group assignment; the option to assign to a group disappears as soon as "External Tool" is selected as the submission type.
