Welcome to the 2015 Teaching & Learning Conference

Instructional Design & Delivery and the Faculty Senate's Faculty Development Committee will be hosting the fifth annual Salisbury University Teaching & Learning Conference on February 20, 2015. The purpose of this conference is to bring together teacher-scholars across campus to share and discuss teaching innovations and best practices.

From Theory to Practice: Creative Strategies for Teaching Practical Theorizing
Professor Jim Forte, Department of Social Work

Picture of Dr. James Forte Biography: Forte is professor in the Social Work department at Salisbury University, author of four books and 41 articles, and a presenter at international, national, regional, and local conferences. Forte has been teaching human behavior (theory application) classes for 16 years, and recently completed 2 new books: An Introduction to Using Theory and Skills for Using Theory. As a practitioner, Jim Forte worked with elderly persons in a community center, served as group worker and director in a clubhouse for persons with mental health and housing challenges, and created and led a group services program for criminal offenders. His teaching awards include SU 2014 Distinguished Faculty of the Year, Outstanding Virginia Social Work Educator, Outstanding Teaching at Christopher Newport University, NASW-MD Chapter Social Work Educator of the Year, and SU Distinguished Faculty.
