The President presents a finalized
Salisbury
University Strategic Plan Goals & Objectives: AY 2004- AY
2008 to the campus community. In agreement with the
majority of the campus, the Executive Staff endorse the
document as written and submit the Goals and Objectives
for Emphasis from the plan. The Goals and Objectives for
Emphasis represent the goals and objectives that the Executive
Staff believe are the highest priority and to which they
will focus the greatest initial effort and financial support.
They declare that, merely by their inclusion in the plan,
ALL of the objectives are important. The Objectives of Emphasis
have been determined to be the highest priority. The campus
leadership will be held accountable to the plan and its
implementation.

2003
The Provost takes the campus-endorsed Strategic Plan
for AY 2004 - AY 2008 and all comments to the Executive
Staff. The Executive Staff begins its deliberations regarding
the final document and any priorities.

October - December, 2003
The Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, Provost's Council,
& Student Government Association endorse the Strategic Plan
for AY 2004 - AY 2008. Each governance and organizational
group, as well as numerous individuals, submit comments
to the Provost and provide a ranking of the primary goals
and objectives that they deem most critical to their group
and to the ongoing success of the University.

September
23, 2003
The Strategic Planning Team convened for a final meeting
on September 17. Final revisions were suggested to the language
of the plan. The SPT adjourned noting that its members would
be available to provide any clarification regarding the
draft document and the planning process. The 8th iteration
of the draft SU Strategic Plan for AY 2004- AY 2008 is forwarded
to Salisbury University Provost and VPAA, Dr. David Buchanan
and the Long Range Academic Planning Committee of the Faculty
Senate.

2003
The second Strategic Planning Congress is held. The same
individuals who were invited to attend the first Planning
Congress receive an invitation to participate in this event.
Of the original 50, approximately 35 are able to attend.
Goal III and IV are discussed. Comments are distilled into
the next draft of the strategic plan.

Salisbury University held an Institutional Strategic
Planning Congress on Friday, June 6, 2003. Representing
the Faculty, Academic Department Chairs, Academic Deans,
Students, Staff, the Executive Staff, and the SU Foundation,
the approximately 50 participants spent the day discussing
the objectives of Goal 1 and Goal 2 of the draft strategic

Salisbury University will be holding an Institutional
Strategic Planning Congress on
June 6,
2003. This event is bringing together members from the
Faculty Senate, Academic Department Chairs, Students, the
Academic Deans, the Executive Staff, members from the SU
Foundation Board of Directors, and the Strategic Planning
Team in order to finalize a working draft of the SU Strategic
Plan 2004-2008. To review the

introductory

The first draft of the Salisbury University Strategic
Plan 2004-2008 was presented to the Faculty Senate on Tuesday
April 29, 2003. The

page provides essential details and emphasizes that the
plan is the first draft. The SPT will continue to refine
the plan throughout the month of May in preparation for
the SU Institutional Strategic Planning Congress on June
6, 2003. Please forward your comments and suggestions to

The Strategic Planning Team is continuing the discussion
regarding the core University goals. For the latest details,
please review the
minutes.
During the month of April, the
Strategic
Planning Team will finalize the working goals and integrate
campus feedback as potential secondary objectives. In May
or early June, additional members of the Faculty Senate,
Department Chairs, and the Academic Deans will be invited
to participate with the Strategic Planning Team for a day-long
planning session. That group will finalize the working draft
of the SU Strategic Plan, 2004-2008.
After the planning session, the Strategic Planning Team
will send the document to the Long Range Academic Planning
Committee and the Provost. The Long Range Academic Planning
Committee may discuss the document in committee prior to
sending it to the Faculty Senate. Simultaneously, the Provost
will present the document to all governance groups and the
campus community for comment through November 1, 2003. Subsequent
to campus feedback and suggestion, the document will be
finalized in December 2003.

As of February 2003, NO "primary objectives" have been
advanced. The SPT is continuing to pursue feedback from
faculty and staff regarding discussion points raised during
the planning workshop.

Environmental Scans The SPT is completing its review
of the trends and issues that have positioned Salisbury
University where it is today, or may have an impact upon
