Smoke-Free Campus Information for Faculty & Staff
Smoking Cessation
Faculty and staff who desire to investigate smoking cessation
through nicotine replacement may obtain referral information for
community resources available in their county of residence. The
Counseling Center has compiled a list of county resources
here.
All employees who would like to participate in the
smoking cessation program will be given one (1) hour release time weekly to attend the smoking cessation sessions for a maximum of 6 weeks, with supervisory approval obtained in advance.
Smoke-Free Campus Violations
SU faculty and staff who violate the Smoke-Free Campus policy
are subject to disciplinary action from the University. A
$75 fine may be assessed. In early fall, during the
initial implementation of the policy, one fine may be waived for
smokers who agree to attend a cessation program.
Employees who receive multiple fines will be reported to the
Human Resources Office and employees may be subject to
disciplinary action. Procedures to handle such violations
(and appeals) are currently being developed.
The Smoke-Free Campus policy will be part of Salisbury
University’s Employee Handbook. To read the Employee
Handbook,
