The Department of Music at Salisbury University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Music beginning fall 2014.
Primary Job Duties:Teach method courses in music education. Serve as department liaison to professional training school and field studies program. Supervise music interns. Salisbury University Faculty members are expected to demonstrate appropriate levels of scholarly activity, student advisement and service and utilize effective teaching and classroom management strategies that enhance the success of diverse learners.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or ABD in Music Education, with strong preference for candidates with a Ph.D. If ABD: would be hired at the rank of Instructor, with requirement that candidate complete doctoral degree within one year from date of hire.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated familiarity with NCATE accreditation and Professional Development Schools model. Consideration will be given to individuals with background in elementary education with certification, public school teaching experience, and knowledge of Kodly, Orff, and/or Dalcroze techniques. Additional consideration will be given to individuals with backgrounds in multiculturalism and/or world music, and experience teaching in an applied area instrumental or vocal.
