Patti was nominated by Department Chair and Associate Professor, Dr. Hoon Cha for her excellence, strong communication skills and dedication to service. The nomination states, “Patti’s professional knowledge in various academic areas in addition to her excellent communication skills make her a point person that everyone goes to with questions. Patti has always taken a new type of challenge as an opportunity to develop a new set of skills. She embraced two projects she was assigned in particular - redesigning the departmental website using a new content management system and analyzing student enrollment data using the data query tool. Out of the office she has been coaching TRiO Achieve students and also supporting Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society.” A letter of support for the nomination states, “When I was the department chair, Patti helped me get acclimated to my new role and keep on schedule with different responsibilities. I seldom had to request information because she would have it ready for me before I asked.” A second letter of support recognizes, “On any given day, one can find a continual stream of students at Patti’s window, asking questions regarding major requirements, pre-registration processes or departmental policies. Patti’s patience is endless. She always responds pleasantly and is sensitive to student reactions. She is particularly good with struggling students, taking extra time to make sure they have the information that they need and a clear set of instructions for their next steps.” A third letter of support states, “Patti works flawlessly under pressure and is always willing to help others when needed. This is all while still going to school and working on her Master’s in Post-Secondary Education.” In closing, a fourth letter of support sums it up by saying, “Patti’s willingness to assist anyone who needs it and her devotion to her department, the Perdue School students and employees, and SU as a whole, is unequaled.”
