Administrative Assistant II Center For Student Involvement & Leadership
Susie was nominated by the Director of the Center of Student Involvement and Leadership, Tricia Garvey Smith, for Susie’s endless commitment to the department as well as the students and campus partners she serves. The nomination states, “Susie takes great pride in providing excellent customer service to our student leaders and members of student organizations. She has built strong relationships…and is able to operate in a chaotic environment with constant interruptions without missing a beat”. Susie manages a large volume of work and is always looking for creative ways to streamline or improve processes. Tricia stated, “If there is a better way to do a job, Susie will find it and implement it!”. A recent example of her work ethic would be her leadership in the implementation of a new cloud-based student organization management platform. In addition to the usual demands of her job, Susie spearheaded the necessary data imports for this project and kept the implementation on track and on schedule. While doing so, she also coordinated the logo contest which solicited student input; worked with publications to create new signage and the webmaster to update the website; then, planned an open house to formally announce the changes. Tricia summed it up beautifully by writing, “Susie’s innovative ideas are always welcome and often implemented. Not only is she valued for those ideas but she is instrumental in putting the pedal-to-the-metal and seeing the ideas become action”.
