Erin was nominated for her significant contributions to research, service and outreach. The nomination recognizes “Erin is an asset not only to her colleagues with the Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative and the University but to those she interacts with regularly in the private sector as well as local and state governments. Erin is always looking to improve her skill set and pursue certifications that increase the capabilities of the ESRGC and have a direct impact on the clients we serve. Erin regularly volunteers to assist with requests that fall outside of her job duties and regular work hours. Most notably, Erin has facilitated a STEM workshop with the Girl Scouts of America and a Strategic Doing Workshop for the USDA. She participated in a panel of women for women in technology event hosted by the Henson School of Science and Technology and served as a judge at several science fairs at St. Francis de Sales. Erin is truly a role model for students and staff alike.” Dr. Karen Olmstead, Dean of the Henson School of Science and Technology said, “Erin Silva is an outstanding leader at the ESRGC and consistent contributor to our science outreach efforts. Her technical expertise, team-focus and positive attitude are indispensable to the ESRGC’s important work.” In closing, Michael Scott, Director of ESRGC, stated, “Erin is exactly the kind of role model we hope our GIS interns and analysts will emulate. She is extremely capable, intelligent, organized and does a brilliant job of communicating expectations to both clients and co-workers. She makes collaboration and communication the hallmark of any project she’s involved with.”
