Mike Camillo was nominated by Dr. Deborah Mathews, Chair, Social Work Department, for his accessibility, proactive approach and overall commitment to the Department of Social Work. Dr. Mathews solicited faculty feedback and included the responses in the nomination. One faculty member wrote, “He [Mike] is very supportive and nurturing in a time of high stress (when technology breaks down) and [he] is available and responsive – no matter when – he will respond to a text.” The nomination stated “Mike is proactive and not just reactive. Faculty frequently note that he stops in before class every time that they teach to a distant site to make sure that the connections are working well and then frequently makes at least one mid-class check to ensure that things are going well.” Another faculty member stated, “Whatever the issue Mike is there willing and very able to come up with a solution. He then doubles back to make sure all is going smoothly.” The nomination also recognized Mike for being exceptional in how he does his job. A faculty member commented, “He [Mike] comes in person to address any problems that we are facing and always does so with such a wonderful demeanor.” The nomination stated “Faculty describe him as very kind and thoughtful, friendly, smart, courteous and conscientious.” In closing, Mike’s hard work and talent set him apart and have earned him a very positive reputation of being vital to the success of the satellite program within the Department of Social Work.
