STEM Coordinator Henson School
Kristen was nominated by Dr. Karen Olmstead, Dean of the Henson School of Science & Technology, for her exemplary work which has significantly contributed to the abundant success of the STEM program at SU. The nomination recognizes the STEM program at SU has seen an 8.5% increase of STEM enrollment since the fall of 2011 (relative growth is greater than other USM institutions). Kristen’s hard work and dedication with numerous outreach events, programs, implementation of grants and new scholarships, integration of transfer students, and efforts developing a “vibrant sense of community” among STEM students have been critical in many STEM accomplishments and milestones. In the nomination, Dr. Olmstead states, “Kristen’s energy, intellect, organization and social media skills have been key to our STEM achievements. She is an outstanding colleague and campus contributor…”
