Payton was nominated by Marvin Pyles, former Associate Vice President of Administration and Finance for Human Resources, for his conscientiousness, commitment, professionalism and positive impact on others. The nomination credited how “Payton is always paying attention to the details, and most of all, always engaging with co-workers and fellow employees to see if they have other needs or issues that need to be addressed.” In a letter of support for the nomination, David Lake, Assistant Director of Facilities Services, stated, 'He always has a positive outlook and continues to provide outstanding customer support. Whenever asked to accomplish a task or solve a problem he will take the bull by the horns and get the job done!' Payton has a remarkable work ethic and he 'obviously takes a lot of pride in his job.' Payton’s open disposition and ability to connect with others while maintaining professionalism and getting the job done make him special. In closing, Marvin noted, 'Salisbury University is lucky to have Payton as an employee and especially as a Housekeeping Supervisor!'
