Employee Recognition Program

Employees of the Month

May 2013
Pascual Flores
Pascual Flores
Plumbing Specialist
Physical Plant
Jim Miller, Assistant Director of Building Trades, submitted a nomination for Paz’s team work and for going consistently above and beyond the call of duty. In the nomination letter, Jim specifically noted Paz’s team player attributes in that he “welcomes and works with you to accomplish whatever task is at hand” regardless of whether it is plumbing related. An example provided was his willingness to assist with all types of tasks including snow removal to ensure safe access for the campus community. Paz is also a superb plumber accomplishing his tasks efficiently, expediently, and as thoroughly as possible. Recently, he was called in to repair a vandalized indoor fire sprinkler head. Once he completed the initial repair, he “spent additional time researching” and ultimately ensuring the mitigation of a suspected secondary concern, which was determined to be a life safety problem also caused by the vandalized sprinkler. In addition to his team work and extra effort, Paz is noted for his dedication and support of sustainability. He took the lead on researching options and then, upon approval, implemented sustainable hydration stations in campus buildings. These stations have thus far recorded thousands of 16oz. bottle refills thus reducing campus plastic bottle waste. In closing, Jim added that “Paz is extremely active with his family and community. Overall, he is a contagiously nice guy and, if you spend even the smallest amount of time around him, you feel better.”
