The President's Office is pleased to announce that
Gwen Owen, Assistant Director of Housing and
Residence Life, has been selected as the Employee of the Year
for FY 2011!
Gwen began her career with Salisbury University in September 2003 as an Area Director in Housing and Residence Life and currently holds the position of Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life. In November, 2010, Gwen was selected by the Employee of the Month Selection committee as the Employee of the Month for her outstanding performance and dedication to her job and to the students at Salisbury University. Dane Foust, Interim Vice President of Student Affairs, describes Gwen as “the ultimate professional. She is a team player who takes initiative and will do whatever it takes to get the job done. She is energetic and enthusiastic and is always willing to go the extra mile. Gwen represents the very best that Salisbury University has to offer.”
In the nomination letter, Diana Federici, Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life, stated that as a result of staffing changes, Gwen had been delegated additional duties and assumed multiple responsibilities while maintaining a positive attitude and a sense of compassion for others. In a letter of support received for the nomination, Gwen was described as “everything you would want in an employee: loyal, hard working, accountable, trust worthy, and task oriented. She is our go-to person and a mentor to the young professionals in our department.” Her positive attitude, faithful service and willingness to go beyond the call of duty are a tremendous asset to the University and impact the lives of students she comes in contact with. In closing, Diana stated: "Gwen is a dynamic individual who goes above and beyond any position she holds … she is a tremendous asset to the Salisbury University community."
