Assistant/Associate Professor of Literacy
Faculty Position (11579)

The Department of Doctoral Studies in Literacy at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Literacy. This position will contribute to the mission of preparing scholarly practitioners who conduct research and lead change in diverse professional contexts. This is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track position with an adjusted teaching load.

Primary Job Duties: Teach graduate courses in the Ed.D. Program including literacy content and research methods courses. Serve as chair of doctoral student dissertations. Mentor doctoral students through service on committees and collaboration on research. Teach literacy or research courses in other Seidel School of Education departments. Conduct and disseminate research at the national level. Advise students, provide service to the department and university, and utilize effective teaching and classroom management strategies which enhance the success of diverse learners.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or related field with a focus on Literacy
  • Minimum of three years of experience with pre-K to adult literacy learning contexts
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in research and teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with linguistically and culturally diverse learners
  • Experience teaching graduate courses
  • Experience directing doctoral dissertations
  • Experience teaching in K-12 schools
  • Successful grant-writing experience
  • Engagement with schools or community partnerships addressing literacy needs

Desire expertise in one or more of the following: writing research and pedagogy, adult literacy, and multi-literacies.
