Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for an Administrative Assistant in the Public Relations Office.

Primary Job Duties: Assists with the departmental budget; creates rough copy and drafts for press releases; handles scheduling and provides guidance and instruction to student office support staff; serves on the office and University frontline with multiple publics, including media with a 24-hour news cycle; screens telephone calls and visitors; handles routine matters and forwards media inquiries to appropriate staff members; may handle confidential and sensitive information including emergency notification; handles recordkeeping, large and sometimes complex publication mailings, and gathering and posting of information on social media; makes travel plans and reports; and orders office supplies and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. A two-year’s associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Two years of directly related administrative experience required. Work in an advertising agency or with a media outlet desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required. Web posting experience desirable.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: This position requires excellent communication skills, written and oral; being able to work independently and as a team player; handling confidential and sensitive information; interacting successfully with a variety of personalities and publics; being prompt, efficient and skilled at multitasking; and being willing to learn new skills and assume responsibilities.

This is a full time, non-exempt, state position with a full benefits package. Minimum starting salary is $14.58 per hour.
