The Department of Art at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Web Design & Digital Foundations. This is a tenure track position.
Area of Specialization: Web Design, Foundations
Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: Teach three courses per semester with a total of 18 contact hours of teaching per week, including Web Design, along with foundations courses such as Design Principles and Digital Photography, possibly Illustration. Academic advisement and departmental committee work are required. Continuing professional activity at a level appropriate to the teaching load is also expected. Utilize effective teaching and classroom management strategies, enhancing the success of diverse learners and supporting a diverse student body.
Minimum Qualifications: MFA before date of hire, a minimum of two years teaching experience in Web Design and foundations at the college level (i.e. beyond graduate school), and evidence of high level creative production, including exhibition record and/or commercial client work. Research interest or professional experience in areas such as web design, interactive design for web and mobile devices, or related fields; traditional drawing and digital image making skills a plus.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Experience with 3D illustration/animation applications such as Cinema 4D is a plus. Demonstrated collaborative experience with faculty across disciplines in a collegial manner.

Appointment will be contingent upon verification of eligibility to work in the U.S. and is expected to begin August 20, 2015.
This position is based in Salisbury Maryland. Founded in 1925, Salisbury University is one of 13 institutions that compose the University System of Maryland. Salisbury University is a selective undergraduate institution with the University System of Maryland. The Department of Art comprises approximately 200 majors and 19 full time faculty members. The department enjoys a great deal of support from the university administration, including two galleries–one on campus, the other in downtown Salisbury–exhibiting the work of national and regional contemporary artists. The University is close to ocean beaches and the Chesapeake Bay and 2-3 hours from the metropolitan areas of Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Norfolk. SU has 388 full-time faculty members serving a student population of approximately 8,600.
