The Department of English at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of English. This is a tenure track position.
Area of Specialization: Cinema Studies
Primary Job Duties: Responsibilities will include teaching three four-credit courses per semester in introductory and advanced cinema studies courses as well as introductory course in literature and film; helping build the English major concentration in film, as well as a growing film minor, through the design and implementation of new courses, as well as other aspects of curriculum development; and participating in the activities and service of the department and the university. Primary service role to be a part of the editorial team for Literature/Film Quarterly, a long-standing peer reviewed international journal devoted to the study of adaptation. Candidates are expected to use effective teaching and classroom management strategies which enhance the success of diverse learners.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Cinema Studies or related field. Record of successful teaching and evidence of clear research objectives within cinema studies. Open to all areas of cinema studies expertise including, but not limited to, global cinemas, industrial histories of the medium and/or diverse audiences, documentary, digital humanities, and/or any other areas of specialization.
