Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Managing Director in its Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE).

Primary Job Duties: Manage daily operations of PACE; work with PACE leadership and members of the academic and broader community to coordinate, support and further develop programming focused on citizenship education and civic engagement; identify, develop, manage and sustain internship opportunities; develop grant proposals; supervise PACE student employees; coordinate and organize events open to the academic and broader community. Writing responsibilities include the PACE newsletter, annual report, grants, website updates, press releases and media advisories, event briefing memos, correspondence, brochures and promotional materials. Some teaching responsibilities related to PACE programs.

Minimum Qualifications: : Master's degree in public policy, public administration, nonprofit management, political science or related field; and 3 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in a diverse university environment; strategic planning and organizational development; familiarity with civic engagement in an academic environment; grants and survey research project development and management; budget development and management; experience working with government officials, professionals, faculty, staff and students; and teaching ability. Ability to direct staff, prioritize, handle multiple roles and responsibilities in a fluid and dynamic environment. Understanding the rationale, mission, and strategy of PACE; a personal affinity to its objectives; and an ability to communicate its significance to the SU and external communities.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writing, editing, political engagement strategies, fiscal budgeting, communications, public relations, state and local policy. Excellent program/institute management, project planning and management, interpersonal, leadership, organizational, problem solving, independent judgment, administrative, and oral & written communication skills; ability to mentor students, interact collaboratively with diverse groups, work independently or as part of a team, and work occasional evenings and weekends.

This is a full-time exempt State position with full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
