| Students applying for admission into the
Professional Teacher Education Program at Salisbury University are required
to meet the following criteria as mandated by the University System of
Maryland. |

| STEP ONE |
- Complete the requirements for admission to the Physical Education
program including 100 hours of pre-service, professional organization
membership, PRAXIS I and attaining your advisor's signature
|
- Satisfactory completion of competency requirements which consist
of passing scores on PRAXIS PPST 1, Reading, Writing and Mathematics
|
- Completion of an application for formal admission to the
Professional Program during the semester prior to entrance into the
physical education methods courses (PHED 410, PHED 411, PHED 420,
PHED 421 & PHED 480) and the two reading content courses (SCED 422 and
SCED 424).

- Completion of a minimum of 56 credits, including transfer hours,
with an overall grade point average of 2.50 or better. The
56 hours must include CMAT 250, ENGL 101 & 102 and EDUC 210 & 300 with
grades of "C" or better in each course.

- Minimum GPA of at least 2.75 (including transfer credits) in the
academic major
|
- Obtain signatures of three faculty members, in the physical
education department, who have instructed the student prior to
application for admission and who can recommend the student for the
program.

- Approval of the written application by the student's advisor

STEP TWO
Completion of the written
application to Student Teaching during the semester PRIOR to Student
Teaching. |
- Completion of a minimum of 90 credits, including methods and at
least 24 credit hours of the academic major (secondary and K-12 only)
|
- Overall GPA of at least 2.50, including transfer credits
|
- Minimum GPA of at least 2.75, including transfer credits, in the
Physical Education core and track
|
- Minimum GPA of at least 2.75, including transfer credits, in
methods classes (PHED 410, PHED 411, PHED 420, PHED 421, PHED 480,
SCED 422 & SCED 424) with no grade below "C."
|
- Obtain signatures from (2) faculty members in the Department of
Health, Physical Education & Human Performance who can recommend the
student for student teaching
|
- Obtain signature from your major advisor
|
- Verification of completion of these requirements by the
Coordinator for Teacher Education and the Director of Field Experiences
|
