Resident Assistant Selection Fall 2012

Application Process

(FALL 2012 Applicants Only!)

We need an opportunity to get to know you through an in-depth application that lets us know you're qualified to join our team. About 99.7% of the application process is available online on the Office of Housing and Residence Life website. You can work on it from your room, the computer lab, the library, even off-campus.  Applications will only be accepted electronically via the online application form. Simply complete the application, review your short essay answers for grammatical errors and click the "submit" button. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3! Go directly to the application now, and get to work!! Should you experience any difficulties completing the application, please contact Erika Brightful, Area Director at 410-548-2577 or edbrightful@salisbury.edu

If you have problems with MS Outlook launching after you click submit, please reset your browser settings so Outlook is not the default mail handler.  Go to Tools/Internet Options/Programs, and make sure the "email" handler isn't set to any specific mail handler.  This should prevent Outlook from launching.  You can send an email to raselection@salisbury.edu to confirm your application was received.  Following these instructions for resetting the default mail handler should prevent Outlook from launching after clicking "submit" at the bottom of the application.

A few more pieces of the puzzle you will need to make sure your application is complete:

  • Reference Forms- (2) completed reference forms should be completed and submitted by the application deadline to the Office of Housing and Residence Life.  Reference Form must be printed and provided to individual.

  • Personal Expression - Please prepare an item that describes something about you that you would want others to know.  It can be a quotation, collage, photograph, painting, poem, or anything showing initiative and creativity that would help others to know you better.  During the interview process, you will be asked to explain your expression, so do not worry about how "good" it is.  Your expression must be completed on a piece of paper no larger than 8 1/2" x 11" (must fit in a manila file folder) and submitted to the Office of Housing and Residence Life,  Chesapeake Hall, 1A no later than February 3, 2012 @ 5:00pm.

The following criteria represent what a strongly considered applicant should have:

  • Minimum 2.20 cumulative GPA.
  • One year of residence hall living experience. (Freshman applicants that enrolled at SU in the Fall 2011 semester are exempt from this requirement if they are applying for a Fall 2012 position and have successfully completed at least 12 credits hours).
  • Involvement within the hall or SU campus.
  • No serious disciplinary conduct within the hall or SU campus.
