Your AD/RD will provide you with a deadline for the report. It may be easiest to save a copy of the weekly report to your computer. After that, each week you should email the weekly report as an attachment to your AD/RD. Word files: Make sure you don't miss out on any departmental activities or meetings by checking the department calendar (Word file) for the most up-to-date information on what's happening "around the house". Resident Assistant Council (RAC) has been created as an organization within our department for the RA staff. RAC will be co-chaired by two RA's representing a variety of experience within the department and around campus. RAC will be advised by the AD staff, and will allow RA's to do a variety of tasks including: committee work, staff development, and acting as a liaison to departmental leadership. RA involvement in staff selection and training, will be taken from RA's involved in RAC. This is a great professional development opportunity to support your position and your fellow staff. Membership in RAC is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged. Individual committees will be formed to create the staff newsletter, develop in-services, and work with Prostaff to facilitate staff selection and training. Get involved! The Internet is full of information that can he be helpful to you as you navigate your floor through the adventure of community development: One opportunity that many RA's consider to continue in Housing and Residence Life or Student Affairs in general, is a graduate or full-time position at the conclusion of their undergraduate experience. There are many websites that are helpful if you are considering Student Affairs as a longtime career (that's what many of us here at SU have done). Whether you're thinking Residence Life, Student Life, Service Learning, Career Center, Admissions, Student Activities, Financial Aid, or Orientation...take a look at the following websites to learn what the graduate school or job search process is like: |
