February 3, 2010
Dear Returning Student,
We hope you have had a positive experience living on campus
this year. The process for on-campus students to return to
housing will be slightly different than in years past. This
year’s options for returning student housing will be categorized
by your time/credit status on campus. Returning student
on-campus options include Chesapeake Hall (CP), Dogwood Village
(DV), St. Martin Hall (SM) and University Park (UP - East
Campus).
Category A: Current students with 5 or more semesters in
housing and/or 90 or more credits at the end of spring 2010
semester will be placed on East Campus: University Park
Apartments.
- Two interest meetings will be held to discuss your
options at University Park on Wednesday, February 10, and
Monday, February 15, at 7 p.m. in the University Park
Clubhouse. Representatives from University Park and the
Office of Housing and Residence Life will be present to
answer your questions. This meeting is not mandatory.
Parking is limited at University Park. Please consider
utilizing the university shuttle.
- You are eligible to complete an application for
University Park during the priority timeline: Wednesday,
February 10, beginning at 8 a.m. through Friday, February
19, at midnight. In order to guarantee a space at University
Park, you must fill out an application during this time.
- Applications are available for completion during the
priority timeline at:
http://www.myownapartment.com/universityparkstudent/apply/
. You will be eligible to apply for a 4 bedroom - 2
bath apartment. University Park rates and fees apply.
- If a group of students wishes to live together, at least
one person must qualify in this category. All students are
required to complete an application during the priority
timeline.
Category B: Current students with 1-4 semesters in housing
and less than 89 credits at the end of spring 2010 semester will
be placed in the following residence halls: Chesapeake Hall,
Dogwood Village, St. Martin Hall or University Park.
- Mandatory
interest meetings for the 2010-2011 year
will be held starting in late February. Information will be
posted in your hall, around campus, via your campus mailbox
and SU e-mail. You must attend one of these meetings to
be eligible to register for housing.
- Students who do not receive an assignment in Chesapeake
Hall, Dogwood Village or St. Martin Hall may be assigned to
live in University Park.
Students with special circumstances are eligible to petition
to live on west campus (CP, DV or SM). Any student petitioning
will need to submit a detailed letter outlining your
circumstances, in writing to the Housing Office (Chesapeake Hall
1A) no later than Tuesday, February 16, at 5 p.m. Decisions will
be made regarding your status by Thursday, February 18, via your
SU e-mail account.
*Any student may register to live at University Park at any
time, but priority will be given to students in Category A
during the designated priority sign–up period (February 10-19).
Sincerely,
David Gutoskey
Director of Housing and Residence Life
