Some 3,000 Salisbury University alumni from the 1920s to the 2000s returned to
their Alma Mater for four days of reunions, athletics and family activities
during Homecoming Weekend 2008. The SU Student Government Association’s Spirit
Week included everything from fun-filled athletics to a pre-Homecoming pep rally
to a block party during the Homecoming football game. The Sea Gulls routed Lake
Erie College 39-15 before a crowd of nearly 2,300.
tudents and guests showed off their own athletic prowess during several
sporting events, including a golf tournament and the annual Residence Hall
Association student powderpuff football game. Alumni also toured SU’s newest
building, the Teacher Education and Technology Center, and heard about plans for
future growth, including SU’s first parking garage, a new home for the Franklin
P. Perdue School of Business and a new campus residence hall.
“This year's Homecoming Weekend was a wonderful event, made possible by so many
in the campus community,” said Jason Curtin, director of alumni relations and
annual giving. “I've heard nothing but positive feedback from alumni and their
families about how beautiful the campus looks and how it brought back many fond
memories.”
