For the Salisbury University community, Homecoming 2012 was marked by sunny weather, fun-filled gatherings and celebrations throughout the week. Popular activities included the faculty emeriti and retired staff luncheon, as well as the Varsity Club golf tournament and the SGA's
"Keep Calm and Flock On" Spirit Week for students.
On Saturday, more than 2,000 fans gathered at Sea Gull Stadium to watch the No. 9-ranked football team defeat Hartwick College, 37-7. Throughout the weekend, the soccer and field hockey teams played at home, along with the volleyball team, which claimed the SU Invitational title. Three alumni also were inducted in to the Athletics Hall of Fame: Erik Miller ('95 lacrosse), Lisa Neylan Vuolo ('01 basketball) and Michael Svehla ('02 soccer).

For the second year, a pre-football game alumni barbecue drew some 150 fans for music, children's activities and camaraderie. Others enjoyed a humanities seminar, theatre production and themed dinners. A special luncheon honored the Class of '62's 50th anniversary. Alumni of the Algonquin Canoe orientation program gathered for a 30th anniversary celebration, along with Nantahala participants. SU's Lambda Society, Geography and Geosciences Department, and class of
'07 also reunited.
Jayme Block, director of alumni relations and gift development at SU, said:
"From all comments that we've heard, everyone had a wonderful time. The weekend
was truly a success thanks to all the alumni who returned home to visit their
Alma Mater."
