spirits and fun-filled events throughout the week.
Popular activities included the Varsity Club golf
tournament, faculty emeriti and retired staff luncheon,
and the SGA's "This Is Why I Squawk" Spirit Week
celebration. New this year was a pre-football game
alumni barbecue, which drew some 150 fans.

That evening, the classes of '76 and '01 celebrated
reunions, while SU ROTC members mingled with active and
retired military members during an armed services
reunion. A special luncheon honored the Class of '61's
50th anniversary. Guests included Margaret Laws Engle,
from the Class of '31, who recently commemorated her
100th birthday, and Ellen Bloodsworth and Carolyn Riley
Whittington from the Class of '36. Campus tours of
Perdue Hall and Sea Gull Square also were popular. Jayme Block, interim director of alumni relations and
gift development at SU, said: "We could not have asked
for a better weekend. It was great to see alumni from
1931 to 2011 represented at all of the events, including
our championship games. I appreciate the support of our
alumni volunteers, the campus community and, of course,
the Sea Gulls who flocked home to visit their Maryland University of National Distinction."
