Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC)

                   Interview Application

Medical, Dental, Optometry and Veterinary Medicine programs require a letter of recommendation from HPAC. The process of receipt of this recommendation involves the following steps:

1)   Complete the application.

2)   HPAC will review your application and determine whether an interview is appropriate.  Your cumulative GPA must be 2.8 or above.  If you have never had experiences relevant to your career goal, the HPAC committee will usually reject your application for interview.

3)   Send a copy of your unofficial transcript to Ms. McGlinchey (you may print a copy from GULLNET).

4)   You may request faculty/staff members (who know you well) to send email comments about you to Ms.McGlinchey. The comments are often included in the final letter of recommendation.

5)   Be prepared to list several med/dent/vet/optometry schools (that you are interested in) during the interview.

6)   Your interview with HPAC members will take place in late April or early May (after the April MCAT).  You will be notified of your interview date and time via group-wise email during the first week of April. Interview sample questions are available in Ms. McGlinchey’s office. The interview will be videotaped.

7)   You will be scheduled to meet with Ms. McGlinchey, before the end of the spring semester, to review the interview.

8)   Your HPAC letter of recommendation is contingent on scores received from health profession admission exams and your HPAC interview.

Directions for completion of this application

1)   Answer all of the questions to the best of your ability. If you haven’t taken a course or professional entrance exam, please note when you plan to do so (HPAC will not normally release a recommendation without verifying reasonable exam scores).

2)   If there is anything else that will help us to decide whether to interview you, please do so in the “additional information” section.

3)   Return this application by email to Ms. Marylane McGlinchey by the deadline date.
