Microsoft Forefront Client Security is the chosen
antivirus program for Salisbury University's network
as of May 2010.
Forefront is available via the IT department only and it
is installed on all IT-maintained machines
automatically. Microsoft Security Essentials is
the antivirus program of choice for ResNet as well as
for home use. Security Essentials is available for
download for free from Microsoft’s website for personal
use.
Microsoft Security Essentials is offered to all
consumers, free of charge. Licensing information
can be found
here. The software includes antivirus and
antispyware protection and automatic updates via Windows
Update.
Campus Macs are loaded with ClamXav, which is free.
We recommend that home users and ResNet users download
ClamXav from its website.
