Faculty and Staff E-mail

EmailFaculty and Staff email

All faculty and staff receive a Salisbury email address as part of their SU contract. This account is created when the contract is received by HR or Payroll, as detailed by the Account Creation Process.

The email address will be username@salisbury.edu, where "username" is the username provided to you at the time of account creation. To login to your SU email, you will need your username and your network (Active Directory) password.

Your email will remain active for as long as you remain under contract with SU. Contingent faculty are given a 9 month grace period before their accounts are disabled.

Your email mailbox stores 2 gigabytes of unarchived mail, and automatically archives mail older than 90 days for most mail (mail over 3MB will be archived after 30 days). Your mailbox can also send or receive mail with attachments of up to 20 MB.

Your office computer will be loaded with Microsoft Outlook (or Microsoft Entourage for Mac users) which will be set up to be used with your SU email account. You will also be able to access your email through any of the lab computers or non-SU computers, both on and off campus, through Outlook WebAccess. Outlook WebAccess, when used with the latest version of Internet Explorer, provides nearly identical function to the desktop version. If you do not have Internet Explorer available, other browsers may be used with the "light" version of Outlook WebAccess. This version performs many of the same functions as the desktop programs and Outlook WebAccess, but does not provide the full suite of options available. You can also set it up for use with many network compatible devices. If you set up your email on your devices, you'll need to remember to change the password on your device when it expires too. Otherwise, your device may end up locking you out.

Please explore the tabs above for more information regarding your SU email account.

How to change your network passwords

Here are some suggested guidelines to use when choosing your password. Your password should be at least eight characters with at least one number. Choose something easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess, like your birthday plus your favorite pet's name. Memorize your password rather than writing it down on a sticky note. By doing this you protect yourself as well the security of our University systems.

Changing your passwords ....

For Network Passwords (login, SU email and myClasses@SU)

  • Go to the My Password page at http://mypassword.salisbury.edu
    • If you need to change your password...
      • Choose the Change Password button
      • Enter your username
      • Enter your current password
      • Enter your new password
      • Re-enter your new password to confirm.
      • Click Submit
    • If you have forgotten your password and need a new one...
      • Choose the Forgot My Password button
      • Enter your username and click Find
      • Enter and confirm your EmplID (or SU ID, found in red on the front of newer Gull Cards), your SSN and your date of birth (two digit month, two digit day, four digit year). If you don't want to confirm them and are in a secure environment where you aren't worried about people seeing your answers, you can uncheck "hide answers" to only enter each answer once, without confirmation.
      • The Password Self Service page will open. Here you will see if there were any problems with your account that may have caused your old password not to work. This is purely for your information.
      • Click Reset Password.
      • Enter and confirm your new password and click OK. You can also Generate a new password by clicking Generate Password.
      • Click Done
      • Click Close Window

A Note on Archiving for Macs

  • Because Symantec Enterprise Vault (EV) relies on Internet Explorer to display its archives, Entourage users do not have the same abilities to view, browse, or manipulate archives that Windows users have.
  • Macintosh users running Macintosh OS 10.5.8 or greater AND Entourage 12.2.1 or greater do have the ability to see and view message stubs from within Entourage. Earlier versions of the OS and Entourage will not display the message stubs. Both are required.  By double-clicking on the stub in Entourage, Macintosh users can see the full email.
  • Deleting a message stub will not remove the item from the archive. To read archived messages on a Mac, you must open a browser window and go to http://archive.salisbury.edu/enterprisevault.  There, you can search for archived messages by author, subject, or contents of the email.
  • Any message over 90 days will archived.
  • Any message over 30 days and larger than 3MB will be archived.
  • Archives that have been imported into EV will not have message stubs in your Exchange mailbox, and thus will not be viewable in any version of Entourage.  You can still read these emails by searching EV as described above.
  • Outlook WebAccess Light (the version used on Macintosh computers) will display the message stub, but you cannot open the full message from the archive by double-clicking on it as you can in the full version of Outlook Web Access.  Follow the directions above to search for the message within EV.
