  • Background and History of the Program

The Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology Program at Salisbury University graduated its first class in 1975. At the time, the curriculum was called a "3 + 1", where students completed three years of prerequisite courses followed by a 12-month year of intensive training in the clinical laboratory sciences. In 1986, the program graduated its first class under the new "2+2" curriculum, where students were able to complete a four year program consisting of two years of prerequisites followed by two 9 month years of classes and clinical experience in the clinical laboratory sciences. During 1992, the Program joined the Henson School of Science and Technology, where it is currently housed.  In the Spring of 2000, the program name changed to Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology to better describe the field of study.
