Minor in Transfusion Services |

The minor in Transfusion Services gives you the option to pick just that one area of clinical laboratory science, if it interests you. The graduate of the entire clinical laboratory science program is called a "generalist" and can practice in the areas of clinical biochemistry, hematology, transfusion services, immunology and clinical microbiology. This transfusion services/blood bank minor allows study in transfusion services, without taking all of the program courses. It includes general principles of human physiology and clinical laboratory operation as well as transfusion-related topics such as blood group genetics, blood typing and compatibility testing, blood donor screening, blood infectious disease testing, etc. You You can complete the minor by taking courses offered on campus.
Pre-requisites
one year of
general chemistry.
Grades of C or better are required in all courses applicable to the
minor.
