Immunizations

Student Health Services vaccination policy for all students, living on and off campus:

 Required Vaccinations:

  •  Meningococcal Vaccine  Maryland law requires that all students, graduate and undergraduate, enrolled at the University and who reside in on-campus housing have the meningococcal vaccine or a signed waiver on file in SHS.  click here for details and wavier about this requirement.

  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)  The MMR vaccine must have been given after the first birthday and a second shot must have been given after 1980. (exempt if born before 1956)

  • PPD (test for Tuberculosis) within the last year.

Recommended Vaccinations

  • Tetanus/Diptheria (TD) every 10 years. Finally, due to the increasing number of cases of Pertussis (whooping cough) the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends routine use of Tdap [tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis] (Adacel brand) as a single (one-time) booster among adults aged 19-64 years, to replace Td booster immunization if the last dose of Td was received more than 10 years ago.

  • Hepatitis B vaccination is strongly recommended
  • Gardasil (the new vaccine that provides immunity for HPV) is recommended for women          ages 9  – 26.

Remember: Students, regardless of age, are required to provide verification of up-to-date immunizations. Your major may have other requirements. Upon admission to that program, please contact the department.

Student Health Services will administer these vaccines at the listed cost.

  • Diphtheria/Tetanus - $15
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine - $30
  • Gardasil vaccine - $130
