Tournament of Trees

This December 2014, the Guerrieri University Center (GUC) sponsored the 11th Annual Tournament of Trees. This year’s theme was “Christmas Traditions: What Does Christmas Mean to You?” The holiday event involves fun-spirited competition among various registered student organizations, Living-Learning Communities and residence halls. Following the competition, all of the decorated trees were donated to local charities.

This year, each organization was given the opportunity to decorate a 3-foot, pre-lit tree, which is then judged based on originality and creativity. The decorated trees were displayed in the Fireside Lounge for a week, and then personally delivered by GUC staff to the multiple charity recipients. This year, 25 organizations participated in the event, which is the greatest number of participants thus far. With such a high number of participants, GUC staff were able to deliver the decorated Christmas trees to a variety of charities in Salisbury, including Christian Shelter, Women Supporting Women. The Student Military and Veterans Association received first-place honors and was awarded $100 and a plaque, Art Club received second place and a $50 prize and SUTV received third place and a $25 prize. Congratulations to all of our winners!
