Event Technical Services provides services for audio-visual, live sound, and lighting in the following areas on campus: Guerrieri University Center, Holloway Hall, The Commons building, the Maggs Center, outdoors, and various off-campus locations. Holloway Hall Auditorium

Event Technical Services uses the Holloway Hall Auditorium for all types of performances and shows. If you are looking to schedule or rent the auditorium for a special performance, you might be interested in the following information:

  • Seats approximately 750 people. Roughly 613 people floor level and 137 in the balcony.
     
  • 55 feet across proscenium
     
  • 30 feet from proscenium to upstage cyclorama, but that can be flexible
     
  • 10 foot deep apron
     
  • Stage stands 4.5 feet over pit floor, and rests even with Back of House floor.
  • 1st electric is 20 feet over stage.
     
  • 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and cyclorama electrics are 24 feet over stage.
     
  • Stairs from the House to Stage are on the downstage corners of the stage.
     
  • There is a quick change room for 2-3 people on Stage Left with mirrors, table, and dimmable lighting (no mirror lights though)

  • Two Star dressing rooms with private toilets that can handle 2-3 people each at mirrors.
    These both have mirrors with lights. Quick change and both star rooms have TVs showing stage view from balcony camera.

  • Four dressing rooms downstairs, with mirrors and lights, can be accessed only by stairs on either side of the stage. An audio and video monitor of the stage is available in common area only. Two of the rooms have seating for 6-8 at mirrors, two hold 4-5 at mirrors.

  • Installed projection screen is 1 foot downstage and center of 1st electric, and reaches all the way to the floor. Projector is a front shot from the booth.
     
  • Lighting and audio are typically controlled from Back of House Left under the balcony. Lighting is run on an ETC Ion with the latest software over two universes DMX. Audio is typically operated on a Soundcraft GB8x32.
     
  • The House has two spotlights located in the booth at the rear center of the balcony. The angle is about 20 degrees from the horizontal with a 95 foot throw from the booth to the proscenium.

Event Technical Services has its own portable Truss System that can be used to help light performances in the auditorium or other venues on campus. This is dependent on staffing and scheduled at Event Technical Services’ discretion.

We cannot fly anything. If your event needs something suspended you MUST clear it with Event Technical Services ahead of your arrival so the appropriate arrangements can be made.

If you plan to use a technical rider for an event, Event Technical Services must approve and receive at least 8 weeks of notice prior to the scheduled event.

Outdoor Venues

Red Square: Open, outdoor square between Fulton, Caruthers, Blackwell, and Henson. Site has no staging, power, lights, or sound. If you need any of that it must be requested via Support Services (Staging), Physical Plant (power), Event Technical Services (Lights/Sound) at least two weeks ahead of your event. Productions needing more than 40Amps need to notify above departments at least 4 weeks ahead of your event.

Quad: Open, outdoor square between Blackwell, Choptank, and Wicomico Halls. Site has no staging, power, lights, or sound. If you need any of that it must be requested via Support Services (Staging), Physical Plant (power), Event Technical Services (Lights/Sound) at least two weeks ahead of your event. Productions needing more than 40Amps need to notify above departments at least 4 weeks ahead of your event.

Seagull Lawn: Site has no staging, power, lights, or sound. If you need any of that it must be requested via Support Services (Staging), Physical Plant (power), Event Technical Services (Lights/Sound) at least two weeks ahead of your event. Productions needing more than 40Amps need to notify above departments at least 4 weeks ahead of your event.

Fulton Lawn: Site has no staging, power, lights, or sound. If you need any of that it must be requested via Support Services (Staging), Physical Plant (power), Event Technical Services (Lights/Sound) at least two weeks ahead of your event. Henson Lawn: Site has no staging, power, lights, or sound. If you need any of that it must be requested via Support Services (Staging), Physical Plant (power), Event Technical Services (Lights/Sound) at least two weeks ahead of your event.
