| Description: | Funding supports research on geographic distributions and interactions of human, physical, and biotic systems on Earth's surface. Projects must enhance geographical knowledge, concepts, theories, and methods, and their application to societal problems and concerns. Annual deadline date for research proposals is first Thursday in September. Annual deadline dates for Dissertation Improvement proposals are the second Thursday in February and October.
