| Description: | Funding supports fundamental research on the mechanics and engineering properties of geologic materials. Areas of interest include: the mechanical properties of soil and rock, mechanically stabilized and biologically modified soil, as well as the natural processes which affect the behavior of these materials. Research on soil-structure interaction and liquefaction are also supported, as are theoretical studies, constitutive and numerical modeling, and laboratory, centrifuge, and field testing. Annual proposal windows are 1/15 to 2/15 and 9/1 to 10/1.
