 Resources/Sources of Funding

University Research Services (URS) maintains a resource library and includes all the standard print
reference sources on state and federal government agency funding, private foundations, as well as
software programs that assist in computer searches for external funders.  In addition, URS subscribes
to SPIN and IRIS, two databases that provide electronic access to funding opportunities. Faculty
and Administrators are welcome to stop by URS to review references or receive assistance in
navigating the electronic databases. The following resources are available:

ASHE-ERIC Higher Education Reports
Aid for Education Report
Arts and Culture Funding Report
Chronicle of Higher Education
Federal Assistance Monitor
►Federal Grants & Contracts Weekly
►Federal Grants Management Handbook
Grant Advisor
Health Funds Grants Resources Yearbook
National Guide to Funding for Children, Youth, Families
National Guide to Funding for Community Development
National Guide to Funding for Elementary & Secondary Education
National Guide to Funding for Women & Girls
National Guide to Funding in Aging
National Guide to Funding in Arts & Culture
National Guide to Funding in Higher Education
IRIS and SPIN Reference Guide
Frequently, potential sources of funding can be found for individual research projects, faculty fellowships,
and other individual projects. All inquiries to funding agencies should be channeled through URS to avoid
multiple queries to an agency.

Those wishing to apply for grants for individual projects are asked to contact the office well in advance
of the date that they will need funding. Our staff will show the applicants how the research materials in
the office are used and assist them in their search for potential sources of funding.
