Graduate Assistantships

Salisbury University offers a number of Graduate Assistantships on a competitive basis. Information may be obtained from the below offices.

Graduate assistants are eligible to receive a salary and tuition waiver of up to 18 credits per year (fall, winter, spring, and summer I and II). To be eligible for the tuition waiver students must enroll for a minimum of six credits in both the fall and spring terms. Tuition is waived only for courses applicable toward master’s degree requirements. The waiver of tuition does not include waiver of fees.

Assistantships are generally awarded for one semester, beginning in the fall, and may be continued in the spring semester, based on the recommendation of the dean, department chair or graduate program director.

Coordinates FunDay, SeaGull Century, Phone-a-thon and other events.
Department of Athletics and Campus Recreation

 

Request application from department.

 

Assistant coach duties including practice and game preparation, scouting, recruiting, position coaching; other duties as assigned.
BEACON (Perdue School) Submit resume including GPA and references.

 

Assigned to one or more project teams for Grant and Sponsored Research Projects conducted at BEACON.
Biology Department Request application from department.

 

Assists in preparation, monitoring and clean-up of labs as well as faculty assistance with limited instructional role.
Career Services Submit resume. Assists with office duties and special projects, reviews resumes, designs forms, provides event coordination, statistical analysis; may teach workshops.
Office of Diversity Contact Office. Provides research and programming assistance.
Education Department Contact department. Assists with Professional Development School programs.
English Department (Teaching) Request application from department. Teaches 2 sections of freshman English each semester, holds office hours each week for student conferences and attends summer and winter workshops.
Office of Financial Aid Request application; accounting background required. Performs accounting reconciliations for direct lending, Pell grants, state scholarship programs and alternative loans.
Health, Physical Education and Human Performance Department (Teaching) Request application from department. Teaches two courses, runs all of PHEC 106 fitness pre-and post-testing sessions and assists with lab courses.
Health Sciences Department Request application from department.  

Maintains laboratory areas within the Department of Health Sciences including storage room stock oversight, set-up and break-down for certain lab sections, holds lab observation hours and provides clerical assistance. May include grading, data collection or research participation.

History Department Request application from department.   Performs basic archival works at Nabb Center and works in proseminar labs under direction of two faculty members.
Office of Housing and Residence Life Contact Office. Some live-in positions. Duties vary. Contact office for job descriptions.
Center for International Education Contact Center. Provides programming assistance to international students and American students who study abroad, general programming support.
Office of Multicultural Student Services Contact Office. Provides program assistance and support to Director.
Nursing Department Request application from department. Assists with graduate student orientation; responsible for grad newsletter; serves on Graduate Program Committee; member of Faculty Organization; assists undergrads with study/writing skills and provides other faculty/department assistance as needed.
Office of the President Contact Office. Various.
Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies Contact Office. Provides assistance to Associate Dean in accreditation matters.
Small Business Development Center Submit resume including faculty references; Perdue students must have one Perdue reference. Assists current/aspiring business owners to develop and expand businesses. Works directly with clients alongside consultants by conducting client research, grant writing, business projections and entrepreneurial education presentations.
Social Work Department Submit letter of interest and resume. Assists with grading, program assessment and other faculty support as needed.
Sports Information Office Resume, writing samples. Writes press releases, updates Web site, compiles stats, creates programs, archives clippings.
Office of Student Affairs Contact office. Assists with monthly Healthy SU programs including Web site maintenance and data collection. Assists with other wellness activities and promotion.
Office of Student Leadership and Organizations Submit resume. Various; details provided upon request.
