WHEN is Giving Day?
Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Midnight to midnight.
WHAT is Giving Day?
Giving Day is SU's second annual 24-hour giving challenge! Sea Gulls around the world- alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends – come together to support the schools, programs, and causes that are important to us, helping them earn matching funds, as we foster research, art, championship athletics, and the experience of a Salisbury education.
How do I make a gift?
On April 3, 2018: Visit http://salisburyu.givecorps.com. Select your gift amount, specify where you would like your gift to go, then complete the giving form!
Where can I make my gift if I only have cash or a check?
To make a gift with cash or check:
- Visit the Giving Day table in GAC outside of Chesapeake Bay Roasting CO. from 10am-2pm
- Stop by the Alumni House from 8am-9pm, 1120 Camden Avenue
- Drop it off at the SU Foundation from 8am-5pm, 1101 Camden Avenue
Is there a matching gift component?
Yes! Courtesy of two generous alumni donors, all gifts will be matched as follows:
- Students: 2:1 (up to $200) to the same area of campus
- Alumni & Friends: 1:1 (up to $100) to the same area of campus
There is no dollar limit for how many gifts will be matched! One match per individual
How will you know how to match my gift?
Student gifts will be matched 2:1 (up to $200) when:
- The credit card used to make the gift is in the student’s name
- The student ID number is provided on the giving page
If you are a student and do not have a credit card, you are welcome to make your gift via check or cash at the Alumni House - 1120 Camden Avenue.
All other gifts will receive the alumni and friends match which is 1:1 up to $100.
How will my gift be used?
You decide! Your gift may be to the University's area of greatest need or the academic department, organization, or athletic program that means the most to you. Whatever area you choose, the match for your gift will go to the same area.
Can I give to an on-campus organization which is partnered with a larger charitable organization?
Rightfully, each gift processed by the Salisbury University Foundation must support Salisbury University programs and initiatives. Gifts to SU cannot be redirected to a third-party entity such as an external charity or non-profit such as Relay for Life or a larger Greek organization.
Ex: Gifts can support travel for the on campus group Salisbury Students Helping Honduras but the funds cannot be passed through to the larger SHH organization.
If I've already made a gift this year, should I give again?
Yes! Only gifts on April 3, 2018 will be matched. Please consider a second gift to help support SU students!
When will Giving Day funds be available for use?
For registered student organizations (RSOs), Giving Day funds should be reflected in the corresponding state accounts within 2-3 weeks. For all other academic or campus groups, Giving Day funds should be reflected in the corresponding foundation accounts within 2-3 weeks. If the group does not have a campus account, the funds will remain at the SU Foundation for use.
I am a student or campus leader. Who do I contact to access Giving Day funds after they are available? Will I be required to do anything after Giving Day?
You must contact the budget administrator for your department, organization, or student group to access Giving Day funds. Any groups who fundraised on Giving Day will be emailed an online form to briefly summarize what student initiatives the funds raised will support.
How else can I help?
Help spread the word via e-mail and social media! After you make your gift, share the giving link with #SUGivingDay. Follow the SU Alumni Association on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and share updates with friends!
