MSGISPA Application Process
Application to Salisbury
University's Master of Science in GIS & Public Administration
Program requires graduate students to apply to SU for Graduate
Study AND to the Department of Geography and Geosciences. Listed
below are the documents required and the offices to which they
should be sent. All documents must be received by the deadline
or your application will be considered incomplete. Incomplete
applications will not be considered for admission. Application
materials will be held for one year from the application
deadline.
APPLICATION TO SALISBURY UNIVERSITY
Questions about or difficulties with the Graduate
Application should be directed to University Admissions at (410)
543–6161.
Complete and submit an Application for Graduate Program
Admission along with a $45 application fee.
The application fee is neither refundable nor
deferrable for a future semester of entrance.
Applicants are encouraged to apply electronically
here; electronic application greatly reduces the
time required to process your application. A printable
version is available
here.
Contact the Registrar's Office at each community
college, college, and university you attended (whether
or not credit was actually earned) and request that
official records are sent directly to
Salisbury University Admissions, 1200 Camden Avenue,
Salisbury, MD 21801.
ESTABLISH RESIDENCY
Questions about or difficulties with the Residency
Information Form should be directed to the Registrar at
(410) 543 – 6150.
If you are a permanent resident of Maryland, you must
complete and submit the Residency Information Form to be
considered for in-state tuition. The Residency
Information Form is included in the electronic
application process. A printable version is available
here. Mail the document to:
Salisbury University Registrar, 1101 Camden Avenue,
Salisbury, MD 21801.
APPLICATION TO THE MASTER OF SCIENCE IN GIS & PUBLIC
ADMINSTRATION PROGRAM
Questions about the MSGISPA Application should be
directed to the Program Administrative Office at (410)
543-6460.
Complete and sign the MSGISPA
application form.
In lieu of completing the Professional Experience
section of the MSGISPA application, applicants may
submit a copy of their professional resume.
Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores need only be submitted
if the applicant has limited GIS or Public
Administration Experience. If GRE scores are more
than 5 years old, please submit updated scores.

Three Letters of Recommendation
Using the
Professional/Academic Recommendation Form, provide
three professional letters of recommendation. We suggest
one from an employer, one from an academic source, and
one from a professional colleague or community
associate. Do not ask friends or relatives. Only
one recommendation can be from a Salisbury University
Geography and Geosciences Department faculty member.
Waive or retain your right of access on each form, then
give one form and a self addressed stamped envelope to
each referee for completion. Each referee should
complete the questions, sign the form, place the
original in the envelope, and sign his/her name
across the seal before mailing. Submit the UNOPENED
envelopes with your MSGISPA Application.
Recommendations MUST have an intact signature across the
envelope seal to be considered valid.
Include on a separate sheet a personal statement of
about 500 words that describes your goals related to the
pursuit of this graduate program of study and to your
overall career.

An Application Checklist
is provided with the Application Materials for your
convenience. Remember, it is your responsibility
to ensure that Admissions and the MSGISPA Program have
all the documents required to process your application.
Students will be issued a formal decision letter
following the MSGISPA Admissions Committee's review.
