Maarten Pereboom is dean of
the Fulton School of Liberal Arts and Professor of History at Salisbury
University. He earned his Ph.D. at Yale University, where he studied the history
of twentieth-century international relations, focusing on the United States and
Europe. His first book, Democracies at the Turning Point: Britain, France and
the End of the Postwar Order, 1928 - 1933, published in 1995, won the
"Outstanding Academic Book" distinction from Choice Magazine. In 1998, he won
SU's distinguished faculty award. He served as assistant dean, associate dean,
and interim dean of the Fulton School, then as chair of the History Department
from 2002 - 2008. His new book, History and Film: Moving Pictures and the Study
of the Past was published by Pearson/Prentice-Hall in January 2010.
