Under surprisingly clear skies, some 120 golfers participated in the 29th annual Salisbury University Golf Classic on Wednesday, May 8, at River Marsh Golf Club at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, Md. Their goal: raise funds for SU while having a good time.
"The great turnout by our teams and sponsors shows their commitment to the University and understanding of the importance of helping our students and campus programs," said Amy Waters, SU’s director of leadership giving and stewardship. Over $36,000 in funds were raised to help future Sea Gull students.
A field of 30 teams competed for prizes and bragging rights. Winners included teams sponsored by Monty Saylor with Bank of America (first place gross) and John Moseman with Well Water Solutions (first place net). Second place gross and net scores went to teams from Sperry Van Ness and The Insurance Market, respectively. The longest drive went to Seth Ricketts, playing with the Bank of America team, while closest to the pin was Tim Jones, playing for Pritchett Controls, Inc.
The event’s gold sponsor was The Mason Companies; other lead supporters included Pritchett Controls, BB&T, The Trice Group and The Garland Company. The day-long event wrapped up with a dinner by Black Diamond Lodge, along with live and silent auctions.
