Salisbury University celebrated its 25th Annual Golf Classic on May 4 at Green Hill Yacht & Country Club, located on the banks of the Wicomico River in Quantico. Despite rainy weather, a full field of 120 golfers came out to play. Made possible by gold sponsor Mason Investment Advisory Services, Inc., the tournament featured lunch provided by Holder Construction, dinner catered by Black Diamond Lodge and a silent auction.
Gross score winners were defending champions John Allen, Neil Baker, Joe Nice and John Petito of Delmarva Power. The team with the lowest net score was Andy Carmine, Steve McGee, George Simon and George Vickers of Lifetime Masonry. Closest to the pin were Harry Power of Barr International and Rick Matthews of Shore Bank, while Rick Tapman of Eastern Shore Brick won the longest drive contest.
The real winners of the tournament, however, are SU’s students. All funds raised benefit future Sea Gulls through academic scholarships and other campus programs.
