Exercise Is Medicine (EIM)
Launch Date: 11/11/2011

If
there was a medication you could take that would lead to a
higher quality of life while simultaneously decreasing blood
pressure, improving mood, treating and preventing diabetes and
losing weight, would you take it?
Certainly! And this medication is EXERCISE!
Salisbury University is joining a national campaign organized by
the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Exercise is
Medicine (EIM) is an initiative designed to improve the health
and well-being of the nation through increasing the awareness of
exercise and its health benefits. Physical inactivity continues to
grow as a public health problem and contributes to chronic
diseases and other health complications, including heart
disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis,
depression, and anxiety. Physical activity and exercise are
important and effective avenues for the prevention and treatment
of many chronic diseases. SU’s EIM Team, comprised of various
faculty/staff members representing the Department of Health &
Sport Sciences, Student Health Services and the University
Fitness Club, is dedicated to providing numerous educational
resources and opportunities for physically activity to the
students, faculty and staff at SU and the surrounding
community. Stay tuned for more information on upcoming events.
